GIRASOL
El girasol es nativo de América, y comenzó a ser cultivado hacia el año 1000 a. C. Los españoles lo llevaron a Europa a principios del siglo XVI.
El girasol contiene hasta un 58% de aceite en su fruto (llamado cipsela). El aceite de girasol se utiliza para cocinar, y también sirve para producir biodiésel. La harina que queda luego de la extracción del aceite se utiliza como alimento para el ganado.
Hay distintos tipos de girasoles: oleaginosos, de confitura o confitería, de alto contenido de ácido oleico y ornamentales.
SUNFLOWER
Helianthus annuus, commonly called sunflower, calom, halter, marigold, sunflower, corn tlapololote or tile, is a herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family, cultivated as ornamental oilseed and worldwide. Owes its common name to the fact that the inflorescence rotates along the day toward the sun. The inflorescences grow after a stem that can reach several meters in height and has few leaves. The petals can be yellow, brown, orange and other colors. The sunflower is native to America, and began to be cultivated to the year 1000. C. The Spanish brought it to Europe in the early sixteenth century. Sunflower contains up to 58% of oil in the fruit (called cypsela). Sunflower oil used for cooking, and also serves to produce biodiesel. The meal remaining after oil extraction is used as livestock feed. There are different types of sunflowers: oilseed, jam and confectionery, high oleic acid content and ornamentals.
